Horse Jewelry Spotlight: Pearl Horse Jewelry

May 26, 2011 by Alison Greene

Sooner or later, we all quote our mothers! ~ Bern Williams

I read this quote this morning, and I have to admit I laughed.  It’s very true.  There are times I can absolutely, positively hear my Mother’s words coming out of my mouth – despite the fact I vowed that such a thing would never happen.

I think it happens to all of us, eventually.  I guess it’s because Mom knew a thing or two!

One thing that my Mother always said is that you can judge a lady by the pearls she wears.  Even now, you can’t over-estimate the importance of having a good string of pearls: they’re versatile, classy, and always appropriate.

But can pearl jewelry be fun?  When it’s this bracelet, I’d say the answer is absolutely.  Fashion forward and fabulously fun, three strands of pearls are accented with name cube beads. There’s room for a trio of your favorite people (or horses!) or a personal motto. The clasp is inlaid mother of pearl, and check out the silver charms! Add some fun flash to a casual outfit – or wear this intensely personal piece of pearl jewelry as a signature piece.  Like Mama always said, people pay attention!

Victorian Pearl Jewelry

Pearl jewelry has a long, proud heritage – and no one loved pearls more than the Victorians.  Victorians also loved horses. Horseshoes and other equine motifs make frequent appearances in Victorian jewelry.

A great example is this fabulous 14K gold and Akoya Pearl horseshoe bracelet. This bracelet was made using an authentic Victorian mold: the craftsmanship is new, and you can wear this amazing bracelet confidently. It’s elegant and classic. 15 pearls add just enough sparkle and visual interest.

What about you? Do you ever hear your Mother’s words of wisdom coming out of your mouth? Did Mom have anything to say about jewelry? Do you have a favorite piece of jewelry that reminds you of your Mom?  We’d love to hear it all!

About Alison Greene

Show Stable Artisans, The Equestrian Jeweler, was started in 1994 by 2 friends who had a passion for horses and jewelry- and who wanted to share the passion with others. They sought out the best artisans who created the finest pieces of equestrian jewelry -beautiful and keepsake pieces that reflected the equestrian lifestyle.

We chose the name for our blog for 2 reasons. The first reason is because we hope to “spotlight” the relevant trends, horse jewelry and information that will be of interest to you. The second reason we chose the name is to honor the most wonderful horse I have ever had- In the Spotlight, the chestnut horse pictured throughout this blog. She was an unbelievable show horse, a loving companion and my horse of a lifetime!
